Paul Mooney was a comedic genius and his death is an incredible loss to the entertainment industry. We would like to honor him by dedicating this month’s WokeNFree report to share the top 5 lessons he shared with the world.
#1 — People ask me when was my best time? I always say, ‘Today.’
There is never a “perfect” time in life to celebrate personal victories. Be present and appreciate the now. Why? There is no guarantee that tomorrow will come.
#2—If you’re happy with what you’re doing, then you don’t get bored.
When you love what you do, can you really call it work? Can you really get bored? No, No, and No!
#3 — You got to remember that slavery’s very complex. It has a lot of levels to it.
Slavery isn’t something of the past. There are residual and current day issues related to the institution of slavery that needs to be acknowledged and addressed in our society.
#4 — Comedians period, in general, have demons, and myself included.
No one is without flaws or challenges. Paul Mooney was honest and apologetically real in his wisdom and comedy. The world needed this type of comedy and truth.
#5 — There’s always a message in my comedy.
